This is an example of church planting effort in the Nkwanta North and south district of the Volta Region of Ghana where we are reaching out to the Konkombas which started in the year 2012. This is bringing together all our converts, disciples and the work force on the field together for a time of retreat. The retreat is a tool for discipleship.
These brethren are the first generation of Christians among their people; hence the need to get them rooted in Christ and in his word cannot be overemphasized. We give thanks to God for this.
You can join this team or sponsor the projects in this field. This could be your interest.
THEY CAME FROM VARIOUS COMMUNITIES IN BOTH DISTRICTS
After much prayer and planning the team of 6 brethren and two children left for Damanko-Badule on the 17th of December for the four days program.
The team consist of Rev. Daniel Appiah and his wife Rhoda Kemi Appiah, Pastor Ofori, Pastor Tony, Brother Robert of Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical student- a Christian body in the university that he does annual missions orientation with for short term outreach) and Sister Priscilla Lamptey (Rev. Appiah’s first convent in Ghana) alongside her two children (Joseph and Naa). Pastor Ofori and Tony went by public transport while the rest of us went with the Pick-up.
THE TEAM FROM ACCRA
The journey took us one and a half days due to the closure of the Adomi Bridge. This lengthen the journey by an average of two hours. We reached our final destination, which is the venue of the convention the following day.
The theme of this year’s convention is “The Possibilities in Christ”. Under the theme, Rev. Appiah took the congregation through “The Discovering Maturity 2 series” which includes partakers of the life of Christ by regeneration, we are crucified with him, partakers of his resurrection etc. and for the bible study sessions, we took them through Fullstature Values such as radical pursuit of God, Christlikeness, being spirit-led etc.
Though it was very demanding to bring such messages to the people’s level understanding, we did our best by the enabling power of the Holy Spirt. This made us to truly appreciate the work of the early missionaries who came from a completely different culture to impact us to this point of us being able to take the gospel to our own people.
THE BIBLE CLASS SESSIONS
THE WORD OF GOD TRANSFORM CULTURES
THE CHILDREN MINISTRY
Aunty Priscilla and Brother Robert did a marvelous job with the children, ministering to them through the word, sings and other activities midst heap of dust.
We had an average day’s attendance of 140 adults/youth and 150 children. We share biscuits and sweet (toffees) with the children and they received with eagerness and joy.
There were two remarkable events that made this year’s convention unique. The first was the mass water baptism. In all 79 members from the various centres were baptize in water. Secondly, we had community rally in the venue of the convention.
The small community of Damanko-Badule has the history of no church surviving in her soil. FMC in this center has also had her own share of the battle. The purpose of the rally was to match through the community to proclaim the Lordship of Christ around the community. The brethren match around the community with the ministry T-shirt amidst dancing and music.
