Gideon Para-Mallam - IFES, is the Senior Leadership Team, International Fellowship of Evangelical Students.

Gideon has served with IFES in Nigeria, both as NIFES Director of Campus Ministries (1989-1992), and NIFES National Director (1993-2002). In 2002, he became Associate Regional Secretary for West Africa, before assuming his present role as IFES Regional Secretary for English- and Portuguese-Speaking Africa in 2008.

Gideon's involvement in missions started in the summer of 1978 when, as a student leader, he co-led an outreach to Zinder in French-speaking Niger, and in 1979 led a major outreach to the unreached Maguzawas, a people group in northern Nigeria. Presently he is involved in speaking at missions conferences, and mobilising students for continental and global missions involvement.

Gideon has also played a major role in other Christian organisations: as International Deputy Director for Africa for the Lausanne Movement on World Evangelization in 2010, and Convener for the Langham-Nigeria in partnership with Langham Partnerships International , a group committed to promoting expository bible preaching.

Recently, in response to the ethno-religious disturbances ravaging some parts of Africa, he has engaged Christians and Muslims in seeking to promote peaceful co-existence in his native Nigeria.

Gideon has a deep prophetic burden to see Africa transformed with kingdom values, and loves to see leaders of integrity raised up in the church and society; in particular he sees students as agents of change, especially when well-discipled and -mentored.

Gideon is married to Funmi, a Senior Research Fellow, and they are blessed with five children - two adults, a teenager and eight-year-old twin girls.
